1) you should never commission or be commissioned for making a model edit, not even if you charge for "just the time it takes". it's still taking monetary advantage of someone else's work

2) if someone asks you to make a model for them from scratch and they offer you anything less than a dollar, don't take it because you should never undersell yourself that much. use this converter to find out if someone's trying to sweep the rug out from under you with dA points: DeviantArt Point Calculator

3) if someone limits your time to create a 3D model for them from scratch to a month or less, ditch them. 3D modeling is fucking hard and it can take up to a year or longer to make a single model. not that there's many people who do take that long, but the point is that 3D models are fucking hard to create and on average most people i know will take up to 5-6 months to make a model. if someone limits you to have even less time to do that and you're not confident in your work speed, run as far away from that person as you can because they only care about themselves and the end product and will not take you or your daily life or emotions into account at all.

4) STOP FUCKING ASKING PEOPLE TO MAKE FULL MODELS FOR YOU FOR LESS THAN A DOLLAR. YOU ARE UNDERSELLING THEIR ABILITIES AND IF YOU'RE SO GODDAMN CHEAP JUST GET A FUCKING MODELING PROGRAM AND DO IT YOURSELF. DONT MAKE AN ARTIST SUFFER JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE A CHEAP ASS BITCH

this has been a fucking psa

Someone I was going to commission an MMD outfit from had the prices no more than 50 cents/40 :points:. When I actually commission them, I'll say that I'd be more than willing to pay more because A) I have the points, and B) the outfit I was going to commission them to make is relatively complex, especially with the textures (even though I'd do the textures myself).
